Meet your committee

Chair – Darren Miller

I have been on the committee since the summer of 2019 and held the position of Chair since January 2020. My ex-racer Rush and I have done a bit of dressage but took a break for a while. We are however looking forward to getting back out in the supportive environment of SDG. I love seeing everyone out at clinics and competitions enjoying themselves!

Treasurer – Hazel Hunter

I have been a member of SDG for over twenty years around the time when I got my first horse, and back when newsletters were sent to members in the post! Having had a passion for horses since childhood, my interest covered everything equestrian. I watched them all, especially The Horse of the Year Show, Badminton and the Olympics all on TV.

Co-Treasurer – Sandra Kay

Competition Secretary – Susan Whiteford

I am a happy hacker but my main horsey job is head groom and driver to my daughter. I have supported her through Pony Club, as entries secretary for competitions and child protection. She has moved on to eventing and I am now involved with SDG as competition secretary.

Safe Guarding Officer – Claire Scott

I am currently competing to medium level Dressage and also enjoy competing in working hunter showing. I am also a BHS Level 3 Freelance Riding Instructor.

Social Media – Craig Donnelly

I joined the committee in January 2022. I’ve worked in the equestrian industry since graduating from Oatridge Agricultural College and have worked on livery yards, an eventing yard and currently as a freelance groom alongside previously working at Horse & Outdoor. I hope to bring my IT skills to the committee to help with the promotion of our events and help with growth of the club.

Members Secretary – Lisa Rothwell

My riding began in Africa, where I grew up. I rode anything and did everything, from gymkhana games, to eventing and even some racing.  After a 35 year break from horses, I got my own horse in 2017 and dipped my toe into the world of dressage, thanks to the welcoming and friendly ethos of SDG. I am looking forward to starting to compete my new 6 year old mare and hopefully work our way up the levels. With luck and courage, I hope we might be able to do a spot of XC and SJ too.

Karen Scott

I like that our club offers a great introduction to competing.
I’ve loved horses for as long as I can remember, it has been a lifelong dream to have my own horse.  Tomos and I enjoy lessons, beach rides and currently compete at Prelim dressage.
